Its Official…

My work office has closed. The phones have been turned off, mail forwarded, and we’ve turned in the keys. For seven years I drove to this place 5 or so days a week. Now I can finally settle into working from home for a while. Over the past few weeks I’ve been trying to work a few hours from home and then run to the office to pack up stuff or meet people there, etc. Now I am getting used to slowing down and getting some real work done. 🙂

  1. I’ve been working at home since 1983, and I love not commuting and having flexible time. Some people think I have to have tremendous discipline to do this, but I don’t think I do. I just treat it as a “regular” job, and put in 8 hours each day (or make up the time on weekends, if needed). For me the hard part is not letting the work take over my house. I try to keep all the work stuff I can in a loft office, but I can’t get my copier up the ladder, and so bits of work end up elsewhere.
