Fashion Friday: Cobalt & Minty Checks

Happy Friday!! It’s been another busy, long week for me and I’m so glad to see the weekend.

Mint Checks

Gingham shirt, Sweater & Cobalt Jeans – Thrifted, Statement Necklace – Julep, Ankle Boots – old

I had a completely different outfit picked out for today, but somehow this outfit put itself together last night and I couldn’t wait to wear it today! Mint and cobalt have been a big hit the past few of years. I tried the look a couple of times before here on the blog, but I think today’s outfit is my favorite so far. Plus I altered my pants, can you tell they’re no longer a version of weird too short – boot cut! I hated the way they looked and kept telling myself I was going to fix them, well I finally did. Maybe a DIY how-to is in order for this weekend!

Spring is almost here and I’ve been seeing checks and gingham pop up everywhere; on blogs, the runway and on the street. I thrifted this sweater in the fall while looking for something minty, the gingham shirt and cobalt jeans were also thrifted over a year ago.

Warm Winter Style: Black, Red & Khaki

I’m ready for a new week this Monday morning; all fresh & new with loads of possibilities in it!

Black, Red & Khaki

Sweater, Blouse & Skirt – JCP, Bangle, Tights & Wedges – Target, Statement Necklace – Julep

Although this outfit is on the simple side, I love it. Basic colors that work well together yet still make a statement and look pulled together. I’ve been planning my outfits for the week for almost a month now. I’m sure to some of you this isn’t news, but for me it’s been life changing. On Saturday or Sunday, while cleaning & thinking about the coming week I’ll take about 5 or 10 minutes to quickly put together some outfits. Sometimes this is super easy and others it takes a few tries to get me going, either way I love having one less thing to think about each morning. Now if I could just start photographing the outfits on the weekend too…

Fashion Friday: Emerald Aztec

Happy Friday Everyone!! I’m so looking forward to the weekend, seriously – when am I not? 😉

Emerald Aztec

Jacket & Corduroys – Thrifted, Top – Target, Statement Necklace – Julep, Boots – Easy Spirit

This cropped Aztec print jacket is one of my favorite thrift finds from a month ago (we’re going again this weekend and I can’t wait!!!). It’s really thick and warm but I’ve had trouble styling it. I’ve actually worn it one other time this month in a similar fashion, but ended up hating the way it looked. Today I styled it with this green knit top I found a Target recently for $3 and my winter white Ann Taylor corduroys. The emerald green brings out the subtle olive green in the jacket and gives the outfit an overall pop of color.

Any suggestions or tips you would like to pass along would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for stopping by! I hope everyone has a great weekend! I’m looking forward to the warmer weather and a hike or two.

Pink & Grey, Anchors Away

Happy Wednesday! Today I’m showing off a couple of my thrift finds from last weekend!

First up, this blazer from Old Navy. It’s a nice basic grey, has puffed sleeves, looks great on and can be dressed up or down! It was an awesome find that I happened to see just as we were about to leave. 50% price – $1.99.

Blazer, Graphic T-Shirt, & Trousers – Thrifted, Shoes – Zappos, Statement Necklace – Julep

I’ve mentioned before that my Caveman served in the US Coast Guard and the US Navy Reserves. I’m so proud of him, he’s definitely a true sailor at heart! I’m a sucker for anything nautical and I’ve been looking for a fun graphic t-shirt, so when I found this one I knew I’d scored big. It perfectly shows how I feel about my man, my heart is anchored to his forever! Awe! 😉 Price – $2.99

I found these trousers a couple of years ago for $1 at the end of summer. I love them and really enjoy wearing them, although Caveman just informed me today that he does not like the color! The mixed reviews continued at work, some liked and some didn’t but I got lots of comments either way! Personally I really liked the dressed up graphic t-shirt. It’s something I hadn’t tried yet, but discovered I really enjoyed.

What do you think, did I nail it?
