January’s Trend of the Month Challenge is here!!
I love participating these TOTM challenges! Marion is so awesome to host these, but especially now at 9 1/2 months preggers. If you’ve never stopped by her blog, please be sure to check out her fabulous style, pregnant or not!!
Knit Top, Bat-wing Top & Loafers: Target, Blazer – Thrifted, Pants – Chadwicks
I thrifted this great blazer just before Christmas. It had a faux fur collar attached to it and although I am excited to have thrifted the faux fur, I knew the blazer would be a great piece with or without the fur addition. The buttons are a bit dated so I’m considering replacing those at some point.
For today’s outfit, I really wanted the stripes to be the main focus. I’m wearing my bat-wing top (last seen here) that has small vertical gold stripes with the horizontal stripes of the blazer. Right now, I can do subtle stripes. Pairing bold stripes together is just a little too far out of my comfort zone yet. It’s all about baby steps, right?
Today is also about layering. It was cold and frosty this morning, so I’m layering with a basic black knit top, the bat-wing top and then the blazer. When I’m outside I had a hefty scarf and wool coat!
You can see the subtle striping better (hopefully) in these photos. Please excuse the puffy face, another round of sinus infections has slowly been making it’s way through our home the past couple of weeks.

I’m linking up with Marionberry Style for this month’s Trend of the Month, Statement Necklaces!
Here’s my statement necklace look with my new Target clearance necklace fro $2.50!
Silk Sweater & Trousers – JCP, Necklace – Target, Sandals – Shoe Show
My Mom & I went shopping last weekend and I found 3 of these beautiful shell & faux pearl necklaces on clearance! I got this turquoise beauty & Mom got the pink/coral necklace. I left the white/cream necklace there, but now I think I should have probably gotten it too. 😉
I really wanted the necklace to get all the attention, so I paired it with a neutral outfit of white & black.
It’s been a super busy and stressful week around these parts, please excuse my lack of blogging. I hoping the holiday weekend will help! And I hope to get my boots today; I can not wait to show them off soon!! Please have a safe and relaxing Labor Day Weekend!!
I’m also linking up with these wonderful ladies too!
I’m linking up with Marion again for this month’s trend: Yellow!
Pale Yellow Blouse & Pumps – Thrifted; Skirt – Handmade; Olive-Green Sweater – Eddie Bauer
Until last year I didn’t have any yellow pieces in my closet, but then I dyed my hair red and yellow seemed to be the perfect complimentary color.
With yellow-blonde hair wearing anything yellow always seemed to clash, so I stayed away from it. Since dying my hair red, it seems I’ve embraced many new colors into my wardrobe; bright blues, yellows, mint greens and purple. I guess I’m just not afraid of it anymore.
So glad this week is already half over!! I wasn’t done with my vacation yet. 😉

I love the challenge and linking up too!
This Month’s Trend:
Here’s my Flower Power outfit!
I thrifted this great hot pink silk blouse recently and I love it! Once I understood how to care for
silk (or wool for that matter) garments, I have thoroughly enjoyed owning them.
Actually today’s entire outfit is thrifted, right down to the shoes and belt. OK, the bag was a hand-me-down from Mom, thanks Mom!!
After waking up to severe thunderstorms, wind & driving rain; this vintage trench was a welcome addition to today’s outfit. It looks really great (if I do say so myself) buttoned & belted with a little of the hot pink peeking out and these shoes. Thank you Marion for hosting the Trend of the Month Challenges
! Can’t wait for next month!
