Happy Halloween 2013!

halloween, cowboy, Duck Dynasty

1st up we have my Caveman as a Cowboy! 2nd up, Caveboy as a lumberjack/Duck Dynasty cast member!

Please forgive the quality of these photos, but it was the end of the day and we were attempting to beat the rain that was threatening in order to get a few photos. Also I thought it would be beautiful to take our photos in front of this burning bush, but my poor cell phone camera couldn’t quite handle the vibrant reds.

I used this tutorial to make Caveboy’s beard! I love Ashley‘s blog, she has the best tutorials and check out her kids Halloween costumes! They are amazing. This little beard took me about 30 minutes to make the other night, with Caveboy jumping up and down, crying to wear his beard the whole time!! LOL Patience, he has yet to master!

Fall has exploded with some beautiful colors this week and hotter than normal temps!

If you follow me over on Instagram you will see a few other fall photos I’ve taken on my daily walk to school. Not much has been happening other than work, school, family – repeat! I’ve survived 3 exams thus far this semester. Just wanted to drop in quickly today with a little update! I’m looking forward to the holidays just to I can slow down some!

Hope everyone had a great Halloween and Fall so far!!

April Fool’s OOTD!

Happy April Fool’s Day! The nasty colds are behind us and we are slowly attempting normal this week.

BrintPink_PolkaDots

It’s still cool/cold here so I’m still in more winter gear than spring. 😦 I did break out my bright pink top to go with the polka dots and boots though, so that means I’m at least halfheartedly trying transition to Spring. Maybe I’ll do better as April progresses and I get a hair cut! 🙂

Fashion Friday: Black Monochrome & the Flu!

Ah Friday, you have never looked sweeter! I’m not gonna lie, this has been a rough week. I started the week with a cough and was rendered flat on my back, unable to move within 24 hours! I haven’t been sick like that since I was a kid! I’m feeling better today and actually made it to work early too!

Sweater & Cords – JCP, Scarf – Thrifted

Amazingly, I remembered to photograph this outfit before the worst of the illness hit. Because I was feeling so poorly I wanted something warm & cozy yet still looked put together enough to pass for office wear.

I’ve gotten lots of wear out of this snake print scarf I thrifted for $1. At one point I had the scarf tied in a loose bow; but it was competing with the cowl neck of the sweater, so instead I went with it looped around my neck a few times instead. Also it was cold and windy that day, that’s why you see my hair flying around.

Fashion Friday: Cobalt & Minty Checks

Happy Friday!! It’s been another busy, long week for me and I’m so glad to see the weekend.

Mint Checks

Gingham shirt, Sweater & Cobalt Jeans – Thrifted, Statement Necklace – Julep, Ankle Boots – old

I had a completely different outfit picked out for today, but somehow this outfit put itself together last night and I couldn’t wait to wear it today! Mint and cobalt have been a big hit the past few of years. I tried the look a couple of times before here on the blog, but I think today’s outfit is my favorite so far. Plus I altered my pants, can you tell they’re no longer a version of weird too short – boot cut! I hated the way they looked and kept telling myself I was going to fix them, well I finally did. Maybe a DIY how-to is in order for this weekend!

Spring is almost here and I’ve been seeing checks and gingham pop up everywhere; on blogs, the runway and on the street. I thrifted this sweater in the fall while looking for something minty, the gingham shirt and cobalt jeans were also thrifted over a year ago.

Pattern Mixing: Snow Edition

Snow in many parts of the country is a common winter occurrence, but in East TN it’s a big deal! Today we woke to a beautiful blanket (i.e. dusting!) of the white stuff, however the roads were clear so it was business as usual. If you look closely you can see it swirling in my photos too!

Argyle & Polka Dots

Sweater, Blouse & Skirt – Thrifted, Tights – Target, Boots – Amazon

As is becoming a trend, this outfit looks better in person than in photos! Because of the cold and snow, I wanted to feel warm and cozy so I went with my cashmere argyle sweater over a denim shirt. I thrifted this great polka dot skirt on a recent thrifting trip. It’s too big and too long, almost a midi length.

Argyle & Polka Dots

I’m not sure if I want to take it in and keep the original shape as a straight pencil skirt or if I want to completely change the look by adding pleats in the front and back? Its a flowy skirt, more of a summer weight than winter or fall. Until I decide, I just belted it for today. The thicker sweater tights and tall boots help to keep my legs warm and dry too.

I’m also linking up with these lovely ladies again today too!
