April Fool’s OOTD!

Happy April Fool’s Day! The nasty colds are behind us and we are slowly attempting normal this week.

It’s still cool/cold here so I’m still in more winter gear than spring. 😦 I did break out my bright pink top to go with the polka dots and boots though, so that means I’m at least halfheartedly trying transition to Spring. Maybe I’ll do better as April progresses and I get a hair cut! 🙂

Minty Colbalt Take Two – Grey Edition

Happy Monday Y’all! Hope you all had a great weekend! I’m not 100% yet, but getting a little better each day. We had a hectic weekend with a birthday party, cleaning house and playing outside with the dog, along with some much needed naps!

Blazer, Lace Tee, Skirt – Thrifted, Grey Heels – Zappos Outlet, Statement Necklace – Target

With all that did get accomplished this weekend, my putting together a few outfits for the week just didn’t happen. Luckily I remembered I put this one together and just hadn’t worn it yet. I thrifted this cobalt skirt on my last thrifting trip for about $1.50 and have been ecstatic to wear it. I paired it with my minty lace tee and grey blazer – both thrifted items too. I have been perusing Pinterest for other ways to wear this cobalt skirt this spring. I really want to find either a great floral blouse or floral blazer or maybe both!

It was warm enough today so that I went with bare legs, please forgive the extreme whiteness. I did get a few compliments though despite my blinding legs!

Turquoise Multi Stripes & Fabric Care Tips

Happy Monday Y’all! Hope you all had a great weekend! We got out and enjoyed the beautiful weather! Saturday we spent at the park and in the backyard and Sunday we took a nice long hike after church. Then with the longer daylight hours Caveboy stayed in the backyard (I’m so glad it’s fenced in) until I called him in at almost dark. He just too cute chasing our dog around out there!

Sweater & Skirt – Thrifted, Tights & Wedges – Target

The warmer spring weather made wearing my recently thrifted silk skirt to church much more enjoyable. I paired it with a turquoise sweater I thrifted a few years ago, some mulberry tights and these faux croc wedges from Target.

The wrap skirt is not exactly kid friendly, so I kept feeling like I was flashing people when Caveboy would climb onto my lap!

Fabric Care Tips!

Although the tag says “Dry Clean Only“, because the material was 100% silk with an acetate lining, I felt fairly certain I could get away with hand washing and then pressing dry. As I’ve acquired more wools and 100% silks in my closet through thrifting, I’ve also educated myself on the care and maintenance of said fabrics. I mostly Google “how to care for _______” or “how to wash _____” when I’m not familiar with the fabric. This has been very helpful and there are some great articles out there.

By caring for your thrift purchases at home instead of running to the Dry Cleaners, you extend the life of the garment and continue to reap the benefits of Thrifting!

Just because the fabric is made of wool or silk or even cotton and the label says “Dry Clean Only“, don’t let this deter you from buying a great piece. Most items can be cared for at home, but if you’re truly in doubt take it to the dry cleaners.

Warm Winter Style: Black, Red & Khaki

I’m ready for a new week this Monday morning; all fresh & new with loads of possibilities in it!

Black, Red & Khaki

Sweater, Blouse & Skirt – JCP, Bangle, Tights & Wedges – Target, Statement Necklace – Julep

Although this outfit is on the simple side, I love it. Basic colors that work well together yet still make a statement and look pulled together. I’ve been planning my outfits for the week for almost a month now. I’m sure to some of you this isn’t news, but for me it’s been life changing. On Saturday or Sunday, while cleaning & thinking about the coming week I’ll take about 5 or 10 minutes to quickly put together some outfits. Sometimes this is super easy and others it takes a few tries to get me going, either way I love having one less thing to think about each morning. Now if I could just start photographing the outfits on the weekend too…

Warm Winter Style: Creamy Neutrals

Happy Monday Y’all! Hope you all had a great weekend! I found some great thrift finds on Saturday morning and spent the afternoon hand washing most of it. 😉 I’ll be highlighting them in the coming weeks but if you follow me on Instagram you already got a preview of a couple of items!

It happens every year, I overload myself with reds and pinks around Valentine’s Day. I long for something neutral, something basic, soothing and relaxing. This creamy lace sweater was a great thrift find last year and is the perfect solution. I’ve worn it a couple different ways since acquiring it, but pairing it a basic white knit top underneath is my favorite. I kept the neutral look going with basic brown pants and neutral, natural looking makeup.
