WIWW: Denim & Sunnies

Happy Hump Day!!! This week is flying by at record speed! Whew, I can hardly keep up!

Despite the look of these photos the weather has warmed up here and it’s been nice and bright lately. It seems I’m never without my RayBan Aviators. I love these sunnies! I originally bought them for Caveman, but they ended up too small for him so I got to keep them instead!

When I was a little girl RayBan Aviators were all my Dad wore and I always wanted a pair of my own. I’ve had a pair or two over the years but always ended up losing them somehow. I’m cherishing these and many other things now that I’m older! 😉

Our summer is flying by & yes, I know its only begun; but I can’t believe it’s June already! Bible School is this week at our church and we’re helping out each night. It’s making for some very long days for all of us! These sunnies also help hide the tired looking eyes too!

WIWW: Navy & Turquoise

I took these photos about a month ago using my Cannon EOS Rebel XT (yes I would love to upgrade my camera) & my “nifty fifty” lens, but completely forgot to post them. Since I’m planning to scale back on my blogging, due to my hectic summer schedule, maybe I’ll continue this trend!

I really enjoyed putting this outfit together. I’ve been adding this polka dot scarf/belt to lots of outfits lately. It just adds a little interest to an otherwise simple outfit. Its office friendly, but still trendy enough for me.

I tried to keep my makeup simple but added a red lip. Oh, I might have gone a little crazy with the poses too!

Dressing Up a Whtie Tee with Tweed

Y’all know I love a good fashion challenge, so when I read about the Coast 2 Coast Beauties announcement for today’s #CoasttoCoastChallenge, “Plain white tee” and this Friday’s White-Tee fashion challenge over at Real Girl Glam, I knew I would play along!

Blue Tweed, White Tee, White Accessories

Tweed Jacket – old, White Tee – Target, Slacks – JCP (old), Sandals – Payless, SAK bag – Thrifted

I needed a quick outfit this morning, so pairing a plain white tee with this tweed blazer (I just happened to find at the back of my closet!) and navy slacks was a no brainer! I added a few pearls, my white purse and some white sandals to finish out the look.

I kept my makeup natural looking and added MARK. pink lipstick. I’m still rocking my blue toes this week too!!

Summer is here in full force and I’m feeling it! This summer is going to be an especially busy one for me so I’m just going to go ahead and let you know now that I will probably only be blogging outfits once a week instead of my regular three. Thank you all for understanding and I hope you get out there and enjoy your long holiday weekend!

The Yellow Theme continues today with this pastel number.

I started the morning off with a denim embellished jacket because it is still super ~~cool~~ cold here. It is supposed to warm up later this week but the past couple of mornings have been cold. OK, please forgive my complaining about the weather! Here’s a comparison, with the denim jacket and without just for fun!

This easy DIY skirt is a more buttery pastel yellow although in these photos it is getting washed out! I’ve worn it a few different ways over the past year since making it.

God has truly blessed our family and in recent months, has been refining each of us to be more like Him. It has been a hard journey, that is by no means over, but it has also been so very good to go through the fire. We always come out better on the other side! To God be the glory!

Monday, Monday: Gingham, Yellow & Cobalt

I’ve officially declared that it’s Yellow Week in honor of Marion‘s May Trend of the Month Challenge.

I plan to bring you a Yellow inspired outfit each day this week! That’s a pretty tall order for me, especially since…. while sitting with Caveboy this morning, getting in a little cartoon watching before our day begins and I have no idea what I will wear today!! Um, I hate to say this again, but Pinterest to the rescue!!!! 😀

I was thinking I wanted to wear my gingham shirt but with what and how I had no idea, so naturally I searched for gingham. I ran across this Pin from Emerald’s blog Sunday Crossbow. I have to stop right here and say, I love Emerald’s style and I’m so sad she isn’t blogging much anymore! I also saw this Pin, plus a few more and somehow the stars & planets aligned and everything just clicked to come up with this outfit!

I added the wide black belt for an instant faux peplum, also making this shirt look more like a jacket. Oh and what do you think about the blue toes? Keep ’em or loose ’em? I’m diggin’ them for now. They’re just so spring-y!

I know you recently saw me in cobalt with these yellow accessories, but humor me! I’m working with what I’ve got and attempting not to worry about what I don’t have yet! 😉

Point: don’t worry about what you don’t have; work with what you’ve got!

Are you guys interested in a tutorial on how I created my necklace? There are so many tutorials out there and I really don’t want to bore you trying to reinvent the wheel. One thing I did different that most other tutorials out there is I used leather strips instead of a chain or ribbon, so technically that is something new I could show you. I have a few more in the works in various colors. They are really cute and it’s a cheap way to use up scraps of fabric.

Coincidentally these were my Mother’s Day flower hand picked by Caveboy!!
